April 4-April 5 - Third David's House Visit

April 4-April 5 - Third David's House Visit

After work we picked up Levi from daycare and headed on our way to David's House. It was a long slow drive with the weather, but we took it easy and had a decent drive. We stopped for dinner half way, and had one of the worst experiences at a KFC ever. But we got free cookies out of the deal, which totally made Levi's day!
Eating his cookie in the car on the second half of the drive.
We did lots of singing to all the kids songs on the way up as Levi was getting antsy, but we made it! He got a little crazy near the end of the drive, but we try to just change what we are doing and he did pretty well with it.

We got to David's House and got checked in. We found out that we would be staying in the Cow room this time. At first I wasn't sure how Levi would do with a different room, but he was super excited. He showed me all the cows in the room and he kept mooing at them all. One of the drawers had a cow drawer pull on it, and you would have thought it was a real cow as excited as Levi was with it. The room was once again set up with a cot when we arrived, so we had them break that down and change it to a pack and play. None of us are ready for Levi to not be contained at night.

Checking out the Cow room. See the drawer pull?!
We were on the ground floor and I think Levi could like smell the play room or something because as soon as we told him he could head out he was off and running towards it, and knew exactly where he was going. He spent a bunch of time playing on the wooden plane and sliding on the slide.
We headed upstairs for a quick snack before bed and then headed back down. Levi had a few more minutes to play and there were a few girls down there (4 and 6ish). They were shy and hanging with their Mom, but Levi was flirting like crazy and being a total show off. He was doing all kinds of crazy things on the slide and running around like a crazy man. They were all giggling so hard! It was so much fun to watch him play with other kids.

Then it was bed time. The time we dread the most at David's House. Levi is really starting to hate pack and plays but is really not ready for anything else. He is also very much a homeboy when it comes to bed time and struggles to fall asleep anywhere but his own cribby. So we knew we were in for a long evening. It took about 45 minutes and multiple trips in and out of the room for him to finally settle down. Jay and I hung out on the floor outside the room while he settled and took turns going in to settle him down. Once he was asleep we ventured upstairs for a few minutes to relax before going to bed.

Levi woke up around 6:20 on Tuesday morning. Since our appointment wasn't until 9:30 we had some time to kill, so Levi and I headed to the play room so he could get a little bit of energy out. He likes to play with the baby toys and make them light up and sing, but then will look at us and say "Levi too big" and go on to something else. The orange "necklace" he has on in the pictures is a David's House lanyard. They give us one with the key on it, and then another one without a key for Levi to wear. He gets sooo excited. And wont leave the room without it. Call's it "my necklace" or "my orange necklace".

Then it was time for breakfast. Levi and I headed back to the room to wake up Daddy, and then we headed upstairs. I don't always know why I try to feed Levi a traditional breakfast, it just back fires in my face. He really isn't a bread eater, or really much of a breakfast eater at breakfast time. I think he gets that from Jay. But I did my best as a mom and offered him options that he will eat some days. I got enough into him so that I knew he wouldn't be starving and I know that he snacks at the hospital all day on infusion days, so I didn't stress too much.

Levi played upstairs with the babies after breakfast while Jay and I were cleaning up and washing the dishes. He was excited to put on their hats and shoes.

Then we headed downstairs to clean up the room, get Levi dressed, and head out. We checked out with the director and made our request for a room for 3 weeks for the expected next infusion and loaded up into the car for the VERY VERY long drive over to the hospital. (HAHA! It's about a 60 second drive, definitely takes longer to get Levi loaded into and out of the car then it does to drive over). We found a parking spot and got ready for the day ahead of us.
