August 29-30 - David's House

August 29-30 - David's House

As Levi was getting ready for his first day of Nursery School I told him that we got to go to David's House that night after I picked him up, he loves David's house and I thought it would be an excitement for him to look forward to in case he didn't have a great day at school. He was super excited!! He asked for his Twinkle Twinkle Little bed and to be in the dino room. Well telling him was almost an awful mistake!

Jay received the call around 9am from David's House. They had a room for us, but not a big enough room. The room could only accommodate 1 adult and Levi. Jay and I talked back and forth about what to do, send 1 of us with Levi, drive up in the morning, stay at a hotel, 1 of us sleep in the car while the other stayed inside with Levi, so many different options. In the end we decided to call and say thanks for the room, but we will pass this time, and that we would just drive up in the morning with Levi. When Jay called back to tell them this, he got the executive director Jaye on the phone. She (like most of the people there) know Levi and our story well. She felt very bad that there wasn't a room for us, but said she was going to look into something and would call us back. She called back shortly and said that there is a high possibility that a family is getting discharged today and if so, we could have their room. She would let us know between 2 and 3pm and would call us if we had a room or not so that we knew. Our day continued on, knowing that we would get the call at some point. Well she called around 2:30 and the family had gotten discharged and the room was ours!! Thank god! We send prayers to the family that got discharged and thanks that we were able to secure the room.

I picked up Levi from Nursery School and we went home to pack. The last few times that we had gone up there had been a huge dinner that had barely been touched cooked by some volunteers so we decided that instead of stopping for dinner on the drive up we would just go straight threw and eat when we got there. The drive seemed longer (probably since we didn't stop) but we finally made it up, Seemed like 50 episodes of Paw Patrol later! But I think it was only a handful! We got checked in to our room, we would be in the Owl room this time! Another new room for us!

The room was very nice! I definitely understand why this room is in the nursing mom's section. It was so peaceful and quiet and just felt so homey. I mean they all do, but this one was just above and beyond for me.

Once we got settled into the room we headed to the kitchen for dinner. Only to find out that there wasn't any dinner this week. Well now what to do. We headed outside to the playground and Levi ran around while Jay and I looked up local places. We landed on the "Noodle Station". We placed the order and Jay went to pick it up while Levi and I went inside to play in the playroom.
Slide!
Building the train tracks. There are no trains :( so We just build!
The ice cream truck was making delivery's.
Doing a little cleaning!
Ready, Set, Blast Off!
In the middle of playing he stood up, looked at the wall, and said "I don't see the teacher!!" He was very upset, and it took me a minute to realize what he was talking about.
The quilt on the wall is all squares from "Brown Bear Brown Bear" and sure enough there is no teacher square. I told him she was off in her classroom and that made him happy, but still a little sad.

Jay got back with dinner and we headed upstairs to eat. Levi said he was a big boy and didn't need a high chair anymore, that he wanted to sit at the big table. He did really well eating dinner.

Shortly after that it was time to head to bed. He didn't get his twinkle twinkle little bed, but he seemed pretty happy with the quilt that was on his cot. He climbed up on, and was asleep within just a few minutes! His pillow was telly tubbies (which he has never seen before), he called them "color monkeys."
He's asleep in their I promise!
Jay and I went off to bed soon. The only thing I noticed with the owl room was that you could hear the Dart coming and going throughout the night as the landing pad was across the field outside of the windows. I only heard it twice, but it's not a sound you ever want to hear. Makes you really think about the families that are coming or going.

Levi woke up early, but not crazy early. Jay and Levi headed to the playroom for a little early morning fun. Then it was time for breakfast and to get ready for the day.
All of Levi's fellas on the bed
We got up and dressed and were on our way over to the hospital around 8:30. About 30 minutes early this time. On our way out the door we were able to stop in and say hi and thanks to Jaye. We really appreciate the shuffling that she was able to do room wise to get us into the house for the night. We are so grateful for David's house as it takes off so much of our stress! Thank you for being our home away from home!
