March 31 - Blood Work

March 31- Blood Work

Today's blood work was a little more crazy then normal. We showed up to a full house. There was at least 3 people waiting in front of us. Ugh, not the morning I had been expecting. We signed Levi in and then set down to wait. He did fairly well sitting in his chair and waiting, but definitely got antsy. After we had been there a few minutes Levi's potty watch went off so we took off to the bathroom. It was a successful trip and we headed back to the lab. I made Levi hurry hurry, but realized afterwords that I really didn't need to as we got back and there were still several people in front of us.
We practiced our selfie skills!
When it was finally our turn we headed in to the lab and Levi picked out his bandaid. He picked Toothless the dragon. We got seated in the big chair to wait for Nice Nurse. She was very frazzled from the craziness of the morning. She played and talked to Levi as much as normal, but ended up missing his vein. For the first or possibly second time ever. She wiggled it a little and got it in. Levi wasn't impressed, but he didn't cry. Levi has now learned how full the tube needs to be, and will watch it fill with his blood. Once it is full enough he will look up at Nice Nurse and say "All done Please" and she takes out the needle. Levi got his bandaid and headed off to the treasure box. He picked an orange whistle instrument thing, and immediately started playing it, aka putting spit into it.
Good Morning!
We stopped at the fountain on the way out. Then Levi asked for a green donut. We headed over to the little cafe (which was also packed) and I noticed that there wasn't any green donuts. They were all chocolate frosting. I told Levi this, expecting him to just say "chocolate please", but instead he said "ok, we go home" and happily headed to the door. Dodged the donut bullet this time. We called Daddy from the car and that made him super excited.

Being a bugger and standing in the chair.
I dropped Levi off at daycare and headed back to work. The day was crazy busy and the time slipped away from me. Before I knew it it was 3:30 and we still hadn't heard Levi's numbers. I had called the house several times to get the messages, but not as excessively as I sometimes do. Jay called at 4:00 and was greeted by the every happy Receptionist S. She said that K was on the other line and would have to call us back, but she didn't push the hold button fast enough and J heard her say "Kim.." As if she was sitting right next to her before the line went to hold. If we ever felt like we were getting the push off before we definitely feel it now. Jay had left his cell number to get the call back and when we both got home at 5:15 we still didn't have his numbers. Jay and I were beyond frustrated. I went in the house and there was a message from K at 4:30 with Levi's numbers. Umm... Thanks. Levi's numbers came back at 251. A great number!! We are definitely very happy with that!!!

Now we are thinking based on the trends that we won't need to have Levi's infusion on Tuesday. That we could push it off until the end of next week or possibly even the week after! That's great news. We e-mailed Dr. V's office to ask what they wanted us to do, but our current plan is to do lab work on Monday (not something we would normally do the day before an infusion) and see what his numbers do and then make the call with Dr. V about the infusion then. We are definitely in pretty good spirits!

P.S. Happy Birthday Auntie Martha!!!
